According to the Department of Energy LEDs use only 20%–25% of the energy and last up to 40 times longer than the traditional incandescent bulbs they replace.
REDUCE YOUR ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND SAVE 80 – 85% on your lighting energy costs!
The 2014 Nobel Peace prize was awarded to Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura for having invented a new energy-efficient and environment-friendly light source – the blue light-emitting diode (LED). In the spirit of Alfred Nobel the Prize rewards an invention of greatest benefit to mankind; using blue LEDs, white light can be created in a new way. With the advent of LED lamps we now have more long-lasting and more efficient alternatives to older light sources.
When produced bright blue light beams they triggered a fundamental transformation of lighting technology. Red and green diodes had been around for a long time but without blue light, white lamps could not be created. Despite considerable efforts, both in the scientific community and in industry, the blue LED had remained a challenge for three decades.
White LED lamps emit a bright white light, are long-lasting and energy-efficient.
As about one fourth of world electricity consumption is used for lighting purposes, the LEDs not only contribute to saving the Earth’s resources but results in tremendous savings for the consumer.
LEDs last up to 100,000 hours, compared to 1,000 for incandescent bulbs and 10,000 hours for fluorescent lights.
The invention of the efficient blue LED is just twenty years old, but it has already contributed to create white light in an entirely new manner to the benefit of us all.

From the immediate low cost of installation to the long term efficiencies of the extra low voltage LED dimmable lighting systems provide, it is clearly a very “bright” thing to do for your home or office.
Here are some more facts to consider:
LED light bulb
|Watts used||7.5 W|
|Annual operating cost||$52.56|
Incandescent light bulbs
|Watts used||60 W|
|Annual operating cost||$420.48|
Compact Florescent light bulbs
|Watts used||13 – 15 W|
|Annual operating cost||$91.10 (almost 2 times more then LEDs)|
(based on 30, 60 W incadescent equivalent)
As you can clearly see, the long term costs savings with LED lighting is substantial!
While we can certainly see, smell and even taste air, water and soil pollution;
What about “electrical pollution”?
Electricity can be made “dirty” or “polluted” in various forms and is experienced worldwide.
Whether at home, school, work or play, electrical pollution is a common everyday occurrence.
From headaches, to ringing ears, to vision problems which are all symptoms often caused by electronic magnetic feilds stemming from dirty lighting, or dirty electricity.
Extra low voltage LED lighting systems have shown by tests to reduce these magnetic fields and dirty electricity to ZERO.
Properly designed LIGHTING CONTROL which includes the use of Low Voltage Lighting fixtures results in Healthier homes, workplaces and even recreational spaces.
Some studies show that close to 50% of global carbon footprint is due to electricity (production and use) and from this 20% may be attributed to lighting.
A late night view from the CN Tower across the Toronto brightly lit landscape brings that into view quite clearly!
